You may have heard of Sodium Hyaluronate’s counterpart, Hyaluronic Acid, which is a naturally occurring chemical produced by the body and is essential in keeping your skin hydrated. When skin is damaged, the concentration of Hyaluronic Acid in that area increases to help regulate swelling and aid healing. However, production can be influenced by ageing, sun exposure and pollution which can, in turn, alter the appearance and texture of skin.

While it is produced naturally in the human body, Hyaluronic Acid would not be a truly natural product as it has to be chemically manufactured. Instead, we choose to use Sodium Hyaluronate derived from wheat fermentation and purified; the fermentation process breaks down the gluten protein so it is not present in the finished product.

Due to its hydrating properties, Sodium Hyaluronate is a powerful ingredient when it comes to keeping skin hydrated, soft and supple.
Sodium Hyaluronate has much smaller molecules than its counterpart, allowing it to penetrate much deeper below the skin’s surface without clogging pores. As it is also essentially a salt, it attracts and retains up to 1,000 times its weight in water. These factors combined give it incredibly effective moisturising properties, cultivating a leaving the skin plump and enhancing elasticity.

Sodium Hyaluronate also has a revitalising effect as it cultivates a healthy and dewy glow, and can help reduce signs of tired skin and ageing. This makes it an integral ingredient in our Timeless Deep Hydration Night Cream; the intense moisturising properties work to rejuvenate your skin while the scent of sweet magnolia aids a restful night’s sleep.
Our Oleum Repair & Anti-Ageing Serum also features Sodium Hyaluronate which works alongside vitamins and restorative lavender to create a beautifully rich serum that will leave your skin soft and hydrated.
When combined with other skincare ingredients, Sodium Hyaluronate can also alter how they affect the skin. For example, it complements the Aloe Vera in our Rev-Up OROS Hyaluronic Eye Gel to make it more suitable for more skin types.
